    HOOSIERS UPSET #9 NORTHWESTERN

Bloomington, Ind. -- IU junior forward and All-Big Ten candidate Tracy Grose put the exclamation on Indiana's statement weekend. Grose scored the game-winning goal in overtime as IU (7-3, 3-1 Big Ten) handed #9 Northwestern (9-1-1, 5-1-0 Big Ten) its first loss of the season, 2-1 Sunday at Bill Armstrong Stadium.

Grose scored the game winner at 99:47 from 17 yards out after taking a pass from junior forward Carrie Watts.

Northwestern's Brooke Bell gave the Wildcats the lead on a goal at 37:12. Indiana responded before the end of the first half. IU senior forward Kris Fosdick passed the ball up to Grose, who scored the tying goal from 17 yards out on the right side with 2:35 left in the first half.

"We were very aggressive," said IU coach Joe Kelley. "That's what it takes in the Big Ten. It's survival out there. It takes a total team effort."
(on rankings) "This team should be in the top 20. They deserve it."
(on Tracy Grose) "I am extremely pleased with her leadership. She has really established herself."

Indiana completed a sweep of the top two teams in the Big Ten. Wisconsin and Northwestern both came into Armstrong Stadium undefeated in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers crushed Wisconsin 4-0 Friday and battled past Northwestern 2-1 in overtime Sunday.

Next game: The Hoosiers travel to Michigan Friday October 9 for a 4 p.m. contest.

Next home game: Indiana returns to Bill Armstrong Stadium to battle Iowa Sunday October 18th at noon.
