Oct. 6, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team got back on track this last week with a win and a tie against a pair of Big Ten opponents in Michigan State and Illinois, respectively. After suffering a pair of conference road losses to start league play, the Hoosiers are back on the national scene this week.
The Hoosiers (9-3-1, 1-2-1) sit in 27th in the first RPI index issued by the NCAA this season, just three spots behind the highest ranked Big Ten team, Penn State.
Indiana just missed out on getting back into the adidas/NSCAA Top 25 Coaches poll this week, coming in at No. 27 and falling just 11 points shy of No. 25, Ohio State. The Hoosiers also moved up to No. 2 in the Great Lakes region as ranked by the NSCAAA, trailing only Purdue.
Sophomore forward Carly Samp was named to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performers list today for her goal with 21 seconds left in regulation to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 win over Michigan State.
The Boilermakers and Hoosiers will battle it out this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Yeagley Field at Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington.
