Bloomington, Indiana-- The IU women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the Iowa Hawkeyes at Bill Armstrong Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Iowa (10-5-0, 6-3-0 Big Ten) junior Kate Walse scored the only goal in the game during the second half at 48:28. Walse scored on a breakaway 15 yards out after receiving the ball from sophomore Laren Kriner.
The Hoosiers (2-7-6, 1-4-4 Big Ten) outshot the Hawkeyes 13 to 9 and had some opportunities to score in the first half. Senior Tracy Grose took two shots which puts her only 15 shots away from the record of 213 which is held by Wendy Dillinger. Freshman Kristen Sprunger had a career high in shots with three, which were all on goal.
Hoosier goalkeeper Ashley Davis had another great game, recording four saves. Davis frustrated the Iowa offense with three crucial saves before the Hawkeyes found the net early in the second half.
The Hoosiers return to action Friday as they host Purdue on senior night at Bill Armstrong Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
