Bloomington, Ind. -- Indiana senior forward Kris Fosdick showed why she was playing her Indiana record-tying 77th game Sunday.
Fosdick scored at 88:22 to give Indiana (9-5, 5-3 Big Ten) a 1-0 win over Iowa (6-7-2, 1-7-1 Big Ten) Sunday at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
The goal came after Indiana junior forward Tracy Grose took control of the ball around midfield. Grose passed the ball to senior back Nikki Porter left of the box. Porter centered the ball to Fosdick, who put it in from 15 yards out.
The rain fell heavily throughout the game and puddles formed by halftime, but Indiana dominated the game despite the weather conditions.
"It was tough out there," said IU coach Joe Kelley. "The ball was getting stuck in the puddles during the second half."
The Hoosiers are playing hurt; Grose played Sunday with a cracked rib.
"That was the gutsiest performance I've ever seen," said Kelley. "I just can't say enough about how tough she is."
Grose is just one of many hobbling Hoosiers.
"Fosdick knee has been hurting her," said Kelley. "(Junior goalkeeper) Ashley (Davis') left knee is sore. Nikki Porter, (freshman back) Kelly Cole, and (senior back) Emily Bridenstine are playing hurt."
Kelley loves the mentality of this team.
"We're fighting through everything," said Kelley. "We're a tough team, and I like that."
