HOOSIERS CLINCH THIRD IN BIG TEN

Champaign-Urbana, Ill. -- The Indiana women's soccer team claimed third place in the Big Ten with a 2-1 win at Illinois (9-7, 3-6 Big Ten) Friday.

Senior forward Kris Fosdick gave Indiana (11-5, 6-3 Big Ten) the lead just 2:17 into the match. IU junior forward Abby Ryan passed up to Fosdick, who shot it past Illini keeper Amy Bessette.

Indiana started the second half almost as quickly as the first. Ryan scored the Hoosiers second goal just eight minutes in the final stanza.

IU junior keeper Ashley Davis stopped six Illinois shots as Indiana won just the second game this season in which they were outshot.

    NOTES:
Indiana will be the No. 3 seed for the Big Ten Tournament November 6-8 at Penn State. The Hoosiers will play the sixth seed Minnesota in the first round. IU lost 1-0 at Minnesota October 16th.

Indiana's 11 wins puts them one short of the team record of 12 set in 1993.

Final home game: Indiana is 7-0 at home this year and will try to finish a perfect home season when they host Butler Tuesday at 7 p.m.
