    Hoosiers to Face Boilermakers in Titan Series Matchup

    Bloomington, Ind. -The Hoosiers and Boilermakers meet up in just the fourth meeting of the two teams. The matchup is just the second meeting of Purdue and Indiana in the 2002-03 Titan Series. (Click here to read more about the Indiana vs. Purdue Titan Series) IU currently leads the intrastate rivalry competition with the Hoosiers win in volleyball Oct. 19.

    The series stands at 1-2 and IU has not won against the Boilermakers since Oct. 22, 1999 in overtime in Bloomington.

    Purdue is ranked 13th in the NSCAA/adidas National rankings for this week and enjoys a number one rank in the Great Lakes region.

    The Hoosiers assistant coach Ian Rickerby is a former Purdue coach as he left the position of second assistant for the Boilermakers to join Hoosier head coach Mick Lyon at Indiana.

    Watch for Jocelyn Cavalier, co-Defensive Big Ten Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 23, 2002 to be a factor against IU. Look to Jennie Moppert, who has five goals and three assists on the season to be another factor. Annette Kent also has five goals and three asssists and will be a go-to player in West Lafayette Friday.

    IU has played its last two games on the road and will continue their road trip against Purdue and Indiana State this weekend. The Hoosiers have a .500 record of games on the road with a 4-4 record. The Hoosiers lost on the road at Penn State on Sept. 27. The Hoosiers beat Iowa 3-1 on Oct. 18 and fell to Illinois Oct. 20 This weekend they will play in West Lafayette against Purdue Friday, Oct. 25 and then in Terre Haute against Indiana State on Sunday, Oct. 27.

    Purdue is currently tied for first in the region with Michigan. The Hoosiers face off with the Boilermakers in the Titan Series, Oct. 25 in West Lafayette. Purdue moved to 13th in the NSCAA/adidas National ranking for the week of Oct. 21. The Soccerbuzz.com poll has Purdue ranked 18th in the nation and first in the Great Lakes region. The Boilermakers were ranked 16th in the Soccertimes.com poll.
