Bowling Green, Ohio -- The Hoosier freshmen continued to impress with two scoring goals and two adding assists as IU dominated the Bowling Green Falcons (5-9-3) 3-0 Sunday afternoon.
IU freshmen Emily Markwell and Karen Moore scored their first career goals, and fellow freshmen Kate Kastl and Kristen Sprunger each tallied an assist. Moore went unassisted for the final Hoosier (4-7-6) goal in the 73rd minute.
Markwell and senior Tracy Grose both scored in the first half as Indiana took a 2-0 lead at the break. Markwell tallied in the 39th minute on a double assist from Sprunger, her third of the year, and sophomore Kelly Kram, her fourth of the year. Grose also found the net behind Falcon keeper Erika Flanders off a double assist in the 17th minute. Kram and Kastl assisted Grose to give IU the early lead.
Hoosier senior goalkeeper Ashley Davis added to her career shutout record by earning half a shutout. Davis is at 15 for her career after splitting today's game with junior Chrissy Heubi.
Nine Hoosiers combined for 19 shots with seven freshmen totaling 13 for the game. The Falcon offense managed just six shots on the day. Grose led the way with five, moving to 207 on her career and putting her six away from the record of 213.
IU returns home to finish the regular season with Cincinnati Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Notre Dame Sunday at 3 p.m.
