Bloomington, Ind. -- IU senior Kris Fosdick made it a senior night to remember for Indiana.
Fosdick scored the game-winner for Indiana (12-5, 6-3 Big Ten) 7:05 into the first overtime period as the Hoosiers defeated Butler (8-11) for the first time ever,1-0 at Bill Armstrong Stadium Tuesday night.
"Fosdick deserves it," said IU coach Joe Kelley. "She really picked it up tonight."
The Hoosiers scored quickly in overtime to make it 4-0 in extra sessions this season.
"I don't know what it is about us and overtime," said Kelley. "We just started creating things."
The Hoosiers really wanted to win this in state rivalry game.
"It's always a big pride factor when you play an in state school," said IU junior forward Tracy Grose. "We wanted to show that if you go to school in (Indiana), (IU) is where you should go."
This night was also about records.
IU junior keeper Ashley Davis set the single season win mark for IU (12), and the single season shutout mark (8).
Indiana tied the team record for wins in a season (12) and shutouts in a season (8). The Hoosiers also concluded their first perfect home season, 8-0. IU also set a team record by allowing only three goals at home this season.
Next Game: The Hoosiers travel to San Francisco to battle the Lady Dons this Friday at 7 p.m.
