Hoosiers to Face Buckeyes at 2 p.m. Thursday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana will face Ohio State at 2 p.m. CST (3 p.m. EST) Thursday, Nov. 8, in Minneapolis, Minn., in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament, the conference announced today. Should the Hoosiers advance to the second round, they will play the winner of Penn State/Iowa at 5 p.m. CST on Friday.
For the second consecutive season, the Hoosiers finished in fourth place in the Big Ten with a 5-4-1 conference mark. Penn State took its 10th consecutive regular-season title with a 1-0 victory over the Buckeyes on Friday, finishing the season with a conference mark of 9-1-0. Purdue finished second in the conference with an 8-1-1 mark, while Illinois finished third at 6-3-1.
The Fighting Illini will take on host Minnesota in the opening round, as the Gophers will be the tournament's sixth seed. Northwestern took a 3-0 victory over Wisconsin on Friday to improve to 4-4-2 and finish seventh, as the Wildcats will face Purdue in the first round. Iowa returned to the Big Ten Tournament for the first time since 2001 after a 1-0 victory over the Golden Gophers on Friday. The Hawkeyes finished 4-6-0 in conference action and will go head-to-head with the Nittany Lions in the first round.
Michigan finished the season in ninth place with a 1-5-4 conference mark after a 1-1 tie with Michigan State on Friday. The Spartans finished behind the Badgers in the standings, as UW finished 2-8-0 and MSU was 1-8-1 on the year.
Indiana is making its sixth consecutive appearance at the Big Ten Tournament as it has made the postseason in each of Mick Lyon's seasons as head coach. Times for the first round contests will be announced later this weekend. For ticket information go to www.gophersports.com.
