With a 1-0 win over Wisconsin on Oct. 27, the Indiana Hoosiers clinched a spot in the Big Ten Tournament for the first time since 2007.

By earning the fourth seed, it is the second-highest finish in the Big Ten regular season standings for the Hoosiers. The best finish is a T3 finish in 1998.

Indiana enters the Big Ten Tournament with 13 wins overall and six in Big Ten play, both of which are among the best single-season totals in program history.

The 13 wins are the most since 2007 and only the 1998 team that won 14 games has ever won more. That same 1998 team is the only other IU team to ever win six Big Ten games.

Shannon Flower and Rebecca Dreher were named to the Capital One Academic All-District 5 First Team on Oct. 31, becoming just the third and fourth players in IU history to receive the first team accolades. Carrie DeFreece (2006) and Carly Everett (2002) are the other two first team recipients in IUWS history.

Rebecca Candler was also named to the second team all-district.

As a team, Indiana has racked up 38 assists this season to set a new school record for team assists in a single-season, beating the old total of 35 set in 1998.

Indiana is 4-10-1 all-time in 11 appearances in the Big Ten Tournament. The Hoosiers last win in Big Ten Tournament play was on Nov. 10, 1996, when they defeated Wisconsin in Columbus, Ohio, to win the Big Ten Tournament. Since that game, IU has gone 0-8-1 in the tournament. The tie came on Nov. 6, 1998, when Indiana tied Minnesota, 2-2, and then advanced to the semifinals by winning the PK shootout, 5-4.

Freshman Veronica Ellis was also recognized, being named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. She is the first IU player to be named to the All-Freshman team since Kerri Krawczak in 2008.
