The Indiana softball team fell to No. 21 Stanford by a score of 8-2 this evening in the Hoosiers’ third game in the Kajikawa Classic.

IU saw multiple hit games by Amanda Wagner and Breanna Saucedo. Brianna Meyer and Kassi Farmer each drove in a run for the Hoosiers.

Lora Olson was dealt the loss this evening in her first start of the season. The righty hurler went 3.1 innings and struck out three. Brooke Boetjer tossed 3.2 innings in relief, striking out one.

Both teams remained scoreless through two innings, but Stanford struck first in the top of the third on a two-run shot over the left field fence.

After Stanford added another run in the fourth, IU found an answer with the bat of Farmer. The freshman drove a double to left to wave around Wagner from first and put the Hoosiers on the board.

Stanford would eventually take an 8-1 lead, leaving the Hoosiers to their final at bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs, Meyer drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, but that would be the closest the Hoosiers would get, as they eventually fell 8-2.

Indiana will get back on the field tomorrow at 1 pm EST when they take on No. 3 Cal.
