Indiana Downs Cal Poly, 7-3

The Indiana softball team improved to 2-1 on the season with a convincing 7-3 win over a strong Cal Poly (1-3) team at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz. Senior pitcher Sara Olson (1-0) picked up the win in her first start of the season, going six innings and allowing three runs while striking out five and surrendering just four hits. Morgan Melloh came in to pitch the seventh inning and gave up one hit but was never in danger.
The IU offense was led by freshman Jenna Abraham's three-run home run that capped off a six-run third inning. It was the first collegeiate home run for Abraham who also scored a pair of runs. Olson had two more hits and drove in a run while Cassie Gogreve added a two-run single to get the inning going in the third.
The Hoosiers will play Texas Tech at 9:30 p.m. ETon Saturday. The Red Raiders are recieving votes in both Top 25 polls this week.
