HOUSTON, Texas - The Indiana bats struggled to get going against Oklahoma State's Sarah Odom on Saturday and the Cowgirls went on to claim a 7-0 victory in the first game of the Marriott Houston Classic for both teams. The game was played at Cougar Softball Stadium on the campus of the University of Houston.

Indiana starting pitcher Sara Olson (0-2) took the loss but was able to strikeout a season-high five batters in 5.2 innings while the Cowgirls were able to plate six runs against her, with only four earned. Alyssa Maiese came on in relief for the Hoosiers (0-5) and gave up one run on one hit in 1.1 innings of work.

The Hoosiers collected just three hits in the game, and they all came in the fifth inning. Julie DiNallo got IU into the hit column with a sinking line drive that fell just in front of the centerfielder. Jennifer Glueckert followed with a sharp single back up the middle to put two runners on with one out. One out later, Emily Bergeson dropped a single into right field but Kelsey Anchors came up throwing to the plate to get a sliding DiNallo to end the inning.

Oklahoma State (4-2) received home runs from Julie Ward and Alysia Hamilson while Sam Heilein collected three hits and drove in two runs to provide the offense. They also benefited from three Indiana errors that led to a pair of unearned runs in the fifth inning.

Indiana is scheduled to be back in action on Sunday against North Carolina State starting at 10 a.m. ET/ 9 a.m. CT. They are then slated to take on Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. ET/ 1 p.m. CT to conclude the weekend.
