LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Sara Olson hit her third home run of the season, but Illinois-Chicago broke open an tie game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth and went on to claim an 6-3 victory at the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic on Friday. The game was played at Stephanie Lynn Craig Park and is being hosted by UNLV.

For the fourth time in as many games, the Hoosiers (1-3) scored the game's first run when Breanna Saucedo singled to leadoff the game and then stole second, her first career stolen base. With one out, Olson was intentionally walked and Cassie Gogreve followed by drawing a walk to load the bases. Samantha Heyman hit a sharp ground ball to third base that was misplayed, allowing the Saucedo to score from third.

Illinois-Chicago (4-3) rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning to take their first lead of the game, 2-1. But the lead did not last for long thanks to Olson, who blasted a solo home run to right center field, her third of the season, to tie the game at 2-2. Two batters later, Heyman reached on a fielder's choice and then stole second, her first career stolen base. Senior Kristin King then hit a ground ball to third base that ended up in left field for an error and another unearned run, but IU had a 3-2 lead.

The Flames tied the game in the bottom of the third on a home run and that's how the score would remain until the bottom of the sixth, when UIC tacked on three more runs for the final score, 6-3.

Freshman Jessica Dobson got her first start of the season and went two innings, giving up two runs on four hits and a strikeout. Redshirt senior Monica Wright came on in relief and tossed two innings, allowing one run and striking out one.
