Indiana Softball Loses 7-3 to DePaul to Earn Split on Friday

The DePaul Blue Demons jumped out to a 7-0 lead after three innings but the Hoosiers (3-4) battled back with single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings but could not get any closer and suffered a 7-3 loss at the USF Tournament in Clearwater.
Breanna Saucedo picked up her first three-hit game of the season and fifth of her career and drove in her first run of the year. Sara Olson was 2-for-3 with her second home run of the season and 19th of her career to get the Hoosiers on the board in the fourth inning. Amanda Wagner was the third Hoosier to collect an RBI in the game with a single to right field in the sixth inning.
Morgan Melloh (2-4) was the starting pitcher for the Hoosiers but struggled with her control, issuing six walks over 2.2 innings and allowing seven runs - five earned - on just four hits. Jessica Dobson tossed the final 4.1 innings and surrendered six hits while fanning five and walking two and did not allow a run. In her 8.2 innings of work this season, she has yet to allow a run and has 14 strikeouts.
The Hoosiers will continue play at the USF Tournament on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET against Fordham and 3:00 p.m. ET against USF. Both games will feature live audio broadcasts on IUHoosiers.com with Dave Leno on the play-by-play and Nathan Wiechers providing color analysis.
