CLEARWATER, Fla. - Indiana starting pitcher Morgan Melloh had a no-hitter going with two outs in the fourth inning and then Fordham got two more hits in the sixth inning to plate the only two runs of the game and issue the Hoosiers (3-5) a 2-0 defeat at the USF Tournament.

"Morgan threw the ball better today and was really good through the first four innings with the help of her defense," Indiana head coach Michelle Gardner said. "But Fordham was able to scrape together a couple runs late and we didn't have enough time to respond."

The Rams finished the game with just those three hits in the game but used five walks from Melloh (2-5) to their advantage. In the decisive sixth inning, Fordham drew a leadoff walk and then a double to left center put two runners in scoring position. After a strikeout, Gabby Luety singled back up the middle to plate both runs on a pitch that was up in the strike zone.

Indiana tried to mount its comeback with its three outs in the top of the seventh but could not dent the scoreboard against Jen Mineau, who pitched the final three innings for the save. Chelsea Plimpton (2-3) earned the win by going the first four innings and giving up only three hits and striking out three.

Melloh finished with a complete game and allowed three hits and two earned runs while walking five and striking out eight.

Breanna Saucedo continued her torrid start to the 2011 season with two hits out of the leadoff position and Kelsey Stander, batting in the second spot, also had a pair of hits. Samantha Heyman was the third Hoosier to register a pair of hits in the game while Heather Nelson provided the seventh hit for the IU bats. For Saucedo, it was her fifth multi-hit game of the year through eight games.

Indians stranded six runners on base while Fordham left just four on the paths.
