Hoosiers Drop First Game at Frost Classic

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Indiana softball team opened play at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Friday morning with a 4-1 loss to the Connecticut Huskies at Frost Stadium.
The Huskies opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead. From there, they would score three more runs, all of which were unearned.
The lone IU run came off the bat of senior third baseman Jennilee Huddleston in the top of the fourth, as she drilled her first home run of the season, and 11th of her career, to the opposite field.
Senior Tory Yamaguchi narrowly missed a home run of her own in the top of the second, when she sent a drive to left center field that landed at the base of the wall for a double. Yamaguchi finished the game with two of the Hoosiers four hits in the game.
Junior Monica Wright (1-2) after going 3.0 innings and allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Freshman Sara Olson made her first appearance of the season for the Hoosiers in relief of Wright. She threw the final three innings and allowed two runs, both of which were unearned to go along with a strikeout and three walks.
The Hoosiers turnaround and will play Eastern Illinois at approximately 12:15 p.m.
