HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Freshman leadoff batter Breanna Saucedo had her first career three-hit game and junior Cassie Gogreve drove in three runs as Indiana picked up its third win of the weekend at the Southern Miss Invitational with a 9-0 win against Belmont. Redshirt senior Monica Wright continued to pitch well and improved to 2-1 on the season.

Nine different Indiana (5-6) players logged hits and five different Hoosiers drove in runs in the game. In addition to her three hits, Saucedo also scored three runs. The top four batters in the lineup were a combined six-for-eight at the plate and scored six runs while Belmont (1-8) was only able to collect four hits in the game.

For the third time this weekend, and seventh time on the year, Indiana put a run on the board in the first inning and Saucedo was right in the middle of all of it. She led off with a single and then stole second base and moved to third on a single by Samantha Heyman. Amanda Wagner hit a slow ground ball to third base that was fielded cleanly and she looked Saucedo back to third. But when she turned to throw to first to get Wagner, Saucedo broke for home and easily made it to put IU in front, 1-0. Gogreve continued her hot-hitting for the weekend with a double to left center and the Hoosiers were out in front, 2-0. Berenter added an RBI double to plate two more and Kristin King rounded out the scoring in the first with an RBI single of her own, making it 5-0 after one inning.

In the second, IU was back at it and Saucedo once again started it with a single. A sacrifice bunt by Heyman moved her into scoring position for Olson, who then doubled her in for a 6-0 lead.

The fourth inning saw more of the same with Saucedo hitting the ball hard back up the middle for another single and Kelsey Brannon followed with her first collegiate hit, a bunt single to the pitcher. Wagner plated Saucedo for the seventh run of the game for the Hoosiers and Gogreve singled home the eighth and ninth runs to put the run-rule into effect.

Monica Wright went four innings and surrendered just two hits and two walks to go with four strikeouts. Jessica Dobson came on to pitch the fifth and gave up two hits but got help from a sterling double play by Berenter and Saucedo to extinguish any Belmont threat. Indiana wil travel to Fullerton, Calif., next weekend for the DeMarinin Invitational, hosted by Cal State Fullerton. Live audio for the first four games will be available through IUHoosiers.com and live stats for all five games will also be available.
