Softball Falls In Five To No. 10 Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Indiana softball team wrapped up its stay in Tucson with a 9-1 loss in five innings to No. 10 Arizona in the Hoosiers’ final game at the Wildcat Invitational. The loss set the Hoosiers back to 2-14-1 while Arizona improves to 18-1 on the year.
Lora Olson is dealt the loss and falls to 0-6 on the year. She tossed 3.1 innings with four strikeouts before handing over duties to Brooke Boetjer in fourth. Boetjer closed out the final 0.2 innings walking three but did not allow an earned run.
Arizona’s Kenzie Fowler earned the win to improve to 3-0 on the year. She gave up one run on five hits with three strikeouts.
Indiana got on the board in the opening inning to plate its lone run of the game. Saucedo started off the frame with a single to right and advanced on a bunt single by Meyer. With two outs, Huber drew a walk to load the bases, setting up an RBI for CaraMia Tsirigos who coaxed a two-out walk to give IU a 1-0 lead.
The Wildcats answered with a two-run homerun in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead and continued to score in each of their at bats to eventually earn them a 9-1 win in five innings.
The Hoosiers will return to action next weekend at the Spring Hill Suites Invitational in Boise, Idaho.
