Melloh Pitches Hoosiers to 2-0 Win Over Chattanooga

ATHENS, Ga. - Indiana Senior left-handed pitcher Morgan Melloh gave up two hits and fanned 13 to help Indiana take a 2-0 decision over Chattanooga on Friday at the Bulldog Invitational hosted by the University of Georgia. Ashley Warrum had two hits and scored a run while Jenna Abraham added an RBI single.
The win for Indiana (9-7) put a halt to an 11-game winning streak for Chattanooga (12-4) and was the second consecutive shutout for the Hoosiers. Melloh has now kept the opponents off the scoreboard in the last 20 consecutive innings.
Freshman Ashley Warrum was 2-for-3 in the game and reached base a third time on one of three Chattanooga errors. Another freshman, Jenna Abraham, had an RBI single and Sara Olson picked up the only other hit for Indiana.
The Hoosiers dented the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning when Abraham's check-swing single up the middle brought home Warrum from second base. Then in the fifth inning Lindsay Callanan drew a one out walk and advanced to second when Warrum reached via a Lady Moc error. Olson then dropped a single into shallow center field to advance all the runners. UTC's Lyndsey Stiles attempted to throw out Callanan advancing to third but her throw ended up in the third base dugout and Callanan was awarded home plate to make it 2-0.
Warrum is 7-for-11 at the plate over the last three games while Olson now has 11 RBI on the season.
For Melloh, she now has 1263 career strikeouts and is 20th on the NCAA career strikeouts list. It was her 44th career shutout and 104th career complete game to go with 97 career victories.
