ATHENS, Ga. - The Indiana bats were not phased by a day off on Saturday due to rain, as they came out swinging against James Madison (9-4) and came away with a 5-1 victory in the finale of a rain-shortened Bulldog Invitational hosted by the University of Georgia. Cassie Gogreve collected three hits in the game and Morgan Melloh registered 12 strikeouts to earn her eighth victory on the campaign.

"I was glad to see our offense come alive a little bit today," Indiana head coach Michelle Gardner said as the Hoosiers improved to 10-8 on the year. "We made the proper adjustments at the plate during the game and put enough runs on the board to allow Morgan to do her thing."

Each of the first six batters in the Indiana lineup had a hit in the game, led by Gogreve's second three-hit game of the season. Sara Olson slugged her third home run of the season and 20th of her career, a solo shot to center field to put Indiana ahead 2-0 in the fifth inning. Ashley Warrum plated a run with a groundout.

Melloh(8-8) gave up one run on three hits in her 11th complete game of the year. The 12 strikeouts in the game mark the sixth game with 10 or more strikeouts this season and her career total now stands at 1,282 to put her in 17th place on the NCAA career strikeouts list. Melloh has 144 strikeouts this season in 100 innings pitched and a 2.52 ERA.

Indiana scored first in the fourth inning when JMU starting pitcher Brittany Jeans was called for an illegal pitch with a runner at third base. Olson's home run with two outs in the top of the fifth inning bumped the IU lead to 2-0, but the IU bats did not stop there. Meaghan Murphy doubled down the left field line and came around to score on an RBI single up the middle by Gogreve.

The Hoosiers continued their attack in the top of the sixth inning with back-to-back walks by Shelby Gogreve and Samantha Berenter to open the frame. A wild pitch moved both runners up one base and then they both moved up one more base on a JMU error, pushing the IU lead to 4-1. Ashley Warrum stepped in and grounded out sharply to first base to allow the fifth run to cross the plate for the Hoosiers.

From there, Melloh took control and struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh inning to close the door on the Dukes.

Indiana will play at the Oklahoma Spring Festival in Norman, Okla., next weekend against Missouri State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and the nationally ranked Oklahoma Sooners. All four games will be broadcast on and will be free of charge. Check the schedule page on for the broadcast links to all the games the remainder of the season.
