Indiana Falls in Extra Innings to Missouri State

NORMAN, Okla. - Indiana and Missouri State battled into extra innings and it was the Bears that were able to plate the winning run in the eighth inning to hand the Hoosiers a 3-2 loss at the Oklahoma Spring Festival.
Morgan Melloh hit her third career home run for Indiana, a solo shot in the third inning. Breanna Saucedo drove in the tying run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra innings.
Sara Olson started the game in the circle for the Hoosiers (10-9) and went five-plus innings, giving up one unearned run on two hits while striking out four and walking two. Morgan Melloh (8-9) came on in relief in the fifth inning and got the Hoosiers out of danger in the inning. She proceeded to pitch the final three innings and gave up just one hit but did allow two runs - one earned - while fanning three to take the loss.
Saucedo finished the game with two hits, her 24th career multi-hit game and had the game-tying RBI in the bottom of the seventh with two outs as she dropped a double just inside the left field line to plate Heather Nelson. Nelson had started the inning with a single to center field.
In the eighth inning, the Bears (7-6) scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly that Nelson tracked down deep down the right field line near foul territory to allow the runner to score from third base.
The Hoosiers stranded its runner at second base in the bottom of the eighth inning to end the game.
