Hoosiers Close Weekend With Loss To No. 8 Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. - The Indiana Hoosiers (11-13) closed the weekend at the OU Spring Festival on Sunday with a 12-1 loss to No. 8 Oklahoma in five innings at Hynes Field. Breanna Saucedo had a hit and a RBI for the Hoosiers.
Lora Olson (7-8) got the start in the circle for the Hoosiers and went 3.1 innings, giving up five runs on five hits and one strikeout. Meaghan Murphy came on in relief in the fourth inning and allowed seven runs on four hits and two walks.
Indiana scored their run in the top of the third inning when Kelsey Brannon doubled down the right field line and moved to third on a sac bunt by Samantha Heyman. Then Saucedo stepped in an delivered a single to plate Brannon.
Oklahoma scored twice in the second inning and then three more times in the third after the Hoosiers scored their run to make it 5-1. They then broke it open in the fourth inning with seven runs and IU was not able to take advantage of a couple of OU errors in the fifth to extend the game.
The Hoosiers will open play at the IU Softball Field this weekend at the Hoosier Classic. The tournament opens at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and the Hoosiers play their first game at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Admission is free to all the games this weekend.
