Hoosiers Defeat Arkansas-Pine Bluff For Second Time, 4-1
March 13, 2011
NORMAN, Okla. - After denting the scoreboard for 18 runs in the first game of the day against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-10), the Indiana Hoosiers (12-10) used a stellar pitching effort by Sara Olson and scored enough runs for a 4-1 win to conclude the Oklahoma Spring Festival Tournament.
Olson (3-0) tossed her second complete game of the year by allowing one run on three hits while walking one and whiffing six. UAPB's Heather Leigh (0-3) took the loss for the Lady Lions, allowing four runs on eight hits and issuing three walks.
The top three batters in the Indiana lineup - Breanna Saucedo, Lindsay Callanan and Ashley Warrum - went a combined 6-for-10 at the plate with four runs scored and one RBI. Meaghan Murphy continued her hot hitting with a RBI single in the fifth inning.
Indiana scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning on a illegal pitch by UAPB's Leigh. Then in the third inning, Warrum singled to left field to drive in Saucedo to make it 2-0. Leigh committed another illegal pitch to the next batter with Callanan at third to increase the lead to 3-0.
Then in the fifth, Murphy stepped in the box with Warrum at second base and lifted soft single to left field to drive in the fourth run of the game for Indiana.
