Olson's Homer Not Enough In 3-2 Loss To Tulsa
March 15, 2011
TULSA, Okla. - Senior Sara Olson smacked a two-run home run to draw the Hoosiers to within a run of Tulsa, but the Golden Hurricane (19-7) held off the Indiana bats after that to give IU a 3-2 loss at the Hardesty Complex.
The home run was the fifth of the season for Olson and the 22nd of her career to take control of eighth place on the IU career home run list. The long ball was also the 100th hit in the four-year career of the Orland Park, Ill., native.
Jessica Dobson (0-1) took the loss for the Hoosiers in her first start of the season, going three innings and giving up three runs on three hits and fanning three. Morgan Melloh came on in relief to strike out four and allow four hits but did not surrender a run.
Jordan Kinard (4-4) picked up the win for Tulsa by giving up two runs on two hits and striking out seven in five innings. Aimee Creger tossed the final two innings to pick up her third save of the year.
The Golden Hurricane scored all of their runs on one swing of the bat thanks to a three-run home run by Samantha Cobb in the bottom of the third inning.
Then in the top of the fourth inning Olson provided both IU runs with one swing of the bat as well.
