BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana softball team ran into a hot-hitting No. 23 Louisville Cardinals (20-10) team on Wednesday at the IU Softball field and suffered a 11-0 defeat to the Cardinals in six innings. Breanna Saucedo, Sara Olson and Kelli Ritchison had the three hits for Indiana (6-19).

Redshirt senior Monica Wright (2-6) took the loss in the circle for Indiana, allowing seven runs on nine hits through 4.0 innings of work, while striking out three and walking one. Junior Sara Olson came on and pitched the fifth inning and gave up just one hit before freshman Jessica Dobson came on in the sixth and gave up four runs on four hits.

Tori Collins (6-2) picked up the win in the circle for U of L, allowing just one hit through four innings and fanning five. Kristen Wadwell tossed the final two innings and allowed two hits.

Louisville scored four runs on five hits in the top of the first inning against Wright, but the senior from Morrison, Ill., rallied to retire six of the next seven batters. But the Cardinals were back at it in the fourth inning, plating two more runs to take a 6-0 lead.

Olson singled to start the second inning for the Hoosiers and Heather Nelson came on a pinch-runner. Amanda Wagner put down an effective sacrifice bunt to move Nelson into scoring position for Cassie Gogreve. The junior lifted a high fly ball deep to left field that wind carried all the way to the wall but into the glove of Louisville's Jennifer Esteban for the second out of the inning. Ritchison grounded out to third to end the inning and the best threat of the game for Indiana.

After adding one run in the fifth, Louisville added four more runs in the top of the sixth inning off Dobson to push the lead to 11-0.

NOTE: Indiana was originally scheduled to play a doubleheader with Evansville on Thursday, but due to heavy rain in the forecast, the teams rescheduled the doubleheader for April 13, starting at 2 p.m. at the IU Softball Field.

The Hoosiers next game will be Tuesday, March 30, on the road at Indiana State starting at 4 p.m. Live Audio of the game will be available through
