COLUMBUS, Ohio - For the third consecutive game, Indiana (16-15, 1-2 Big Ten) and Ohio State went toe to toe deep into the game. But on Sunday, it was the Buckeyes (16-11, 2-1 Big Ten) that took advantage of a defensive miscue in the sixth inning to hand the Hoosiers a 7-3 loss at Buckeye Field.

Shelby Gogreve set a new career high with three hits in the game while Brianna Meyer and Cassie Gogreve also had multi-hit games as the Hoosiers collected nine hits as a team.

Lora Olson got the start in the circle for Indiana and went 2.2 innings and allowed one run on two hits and three strikeouts but had five HBP. Meaghan Murphy (7-6) came on in the bottom of the third inning and pitched the final 3.1 innings and gave up six runs on seven hits but just three of the runs were earned thanks to a couple of IU errors in the field.

Indiana broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third inning when Jenna Abraham drew a leadoff walk. She was erased on a fielder's choice by Kelsey Brannon. Meyer singled to left and Brannon was able to scamper all the way to third base, allowing Meyer to take second on the throw. Shannon Cawley followed with a sac fly to center field to plate the first run. Cassie Gogreve followed with a RBI double down the left field line to make it 2-0.

Ohio State got a RBI double by Danielle LeBeau to cut the Hoosiers' lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the third. Then the Buckeyes scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead.

Amanda Wagner's solo home run in the top of the sixth inning tied the game at 3-3, her fifth home run of the season and the fourth of her career against Ohio State.

But in the bottom of the sixth, Ohio State had scored the go-ahead run and then used the Hoosiers second error of the game to break the game open with three unearned runs, making it 7-3.

IU will continue Big Ten play next weekend when they host No. 20 Michigan at the IU Softball Field. Saturday will be a doubleheader with game one starting at 2pm ET.
