BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana junior pitcher Sara Olson kept the Indiana State Sycaomores at bay for the first six innings and then held on in the seventh inning to earn the complete game victory as Indiana picked up the 2-1 win at Price Field. Olson, along with sophomore Samantha Berenter, drove the IU (7-19) runs in the top of the first inning with RBI singles.

Olson (4-8) allowed five hits and one earned run while striking out five on her way to her third complete game of the year. The Sycamores (11-14) had just three hits over the first six innings before a double and a single in the seventh plated the lone run.

Freshman Breanna Saucedo led off the game with a perfect bunt single and then stole second. Freshman Samantha Heyman grounded out on a slow roller to third base to advance Saucedo to third with one out. After a strikeout, Olson stepped in a line a ball past the shortstop and all the way to the fence in left center for her eighth double of the year to give Indiana a 1-0 lead. Senior Jennifer Glueckert logged an infield single to extend the inning for Berenter. The sophomore from Poway, Calif., lined a single through the left side of the infield to plate Olson and put Indiana out in front, 2-0.

From there it was all Olson, as she cruised through the first two innings. In the third, ISU got a leadoff single and that runner advanced to scoring position on a groundout. But the Hoosiers turned a nifty 6-3-5 double play to end the inning and maintain the 2-0 lead.

Olson put it back on cruise control for the next three innings and was able to escape any further damage in the seventh inning by inducing a soft liner to Saucedo at shortstop for the final out of the game.

The win snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Hoosiers and extended the ISU losing skid to eight games.
