BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana Hoosiers lost the series finale to the Purdue Boilermakers (24-12, 7-2) at the IU Softball Field on Sunday, 11-2. Cassie Gogreve had two hits including a two-run double and Brianna Meyer also had two hits for Indiana (19-18, 4-5 Big Ten).

Lora Olson (11-11) started the game in the circle for Indiana but was touched up for four runs on eight hits in three-plus innings. Meaghan Murphy came on in relief and allowed seven runs - six earned - on nine hits and two walks over the final four innings.

Purdue opened the scoring in the top of the third inning with a run and then followed that up with five runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 6-0 lead.

But the Hoosiers responded in the bottom of the frame when Amanda Wagner drew a walk and Brianna Meyer followed with a single up the middle. Cassie Gogreve then lined a sinking line drive to center field that skipped by the diving Purdue centerfielder, allowing both runs to score to cut the Boilers lead to 6-2.

The Boilers added three more runs the sixth inning to increase its lead to 9-2. They then tacked on a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to make it 11-2.

Indiana started the bottom of the seventh with a infield single by Cassie Gogreve followed by a pinch hit by Jena Malmen but was not able to string together any more hits to mount the comeback.

Wagner was 0-for-1 in the game but did draw a pair of walks to reach base safely for the 13th consecutive game.

Indiana will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Indiana State with the first pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m. ET.
