Softball Season Finale With Penn State Rained Out
May 15, 2010
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The end of the 2010 season for the Indiana University softball team came to an abrupt end on Saturday as rain moved in to the Bloomington area and left the field unplayable, forcing the game to be cancelled. With the NCAA Tournament selections taking place on Sunday, all of the results had to be completed on Saturday, meaning the game will not be made up.
Since the game did not make it through five complete innings, it is wiped out of the record books. Penn State was leading 2-0 at the time but Indiana had runners at first and third with two outs at the time the rains became to heavy.
The Hoosiers finish the regular season with a 12-36 overall record and a 4-14 mark in Big Ten play.
Prior to the start of the game, six IU seniors were honored for their dedication to the program. Those seniors included Brittany Devitt, Stephanie Turner, Kristin King, Kelli Ritchison, Jennifer Glueckert and Monica Wright.
