LAS VEGAS -A two-run sixth by the Utah State Aggies spelled doom for the Hoosiers as IU was downed by USU, 2-1, at the Alexis Resort Classic.

Indiana (1-3) took an early 1-0 advantage plating a run in the second. Freshman Jennilee Huddleston singled up the middle to start the rally. Sophomore Kim Richards then lined a double down the right-field line, putting Hoosiers on second and third with just one out. Just like yesterday, sophomore Rachel Terry came up with the big hit, knocking in Huddleston on a single to center.

The Hoosiers were breezing along until the sixth when Utah State rallied to score two runs. A two-base error by Terry permitted the leadoff hitter, Roxanne Ritchie, to reach second base. Quela Henderson then attempted to sacrifice Ritchie to third, but she wound up beating out the bunt for an infield single, putting runners on the corner with no outs. Amanda Carter then lined a single to left to tie the game at 1-1. A ground out then moved runners to second and third.

The Aggies game-winning run came off the bat of Jessica Garnett, who hit a slow roller to second. Senior second baseman Ashley Griffiths attempted to cut off the run at the plate, but Ritchie beat her throw home.

Huddleston ended the day at 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Terry, Griffiths and sophomore Kim Richards were all 1-for-3.

Sophomore Megan Roark gave IU another great outing pitching a total of six shutout innings, allowing just two walks with five strikeouts. Senior Katie Witham (0-1) took the loss going one inning giving up two runs, one earned, on two hits.

Leslie Higley (1-1) was the winner for Utah State. She hurled the complete game scattering five hits, while giving up just one run.
