February 27, 2000 INDIANA DROPS TWO GAMES AT USF-GLADSTONES TOURNAMENT
TAMPA, Fla. - Indiana (1-4) lost two games Sunday afternoon to conclude the USF-Gladstones Tournament at South Florida. Indiana dropped the first game to South Florida (8-15) as the Bulls outscored the Hoosiers 4-2. In the second game, the Hoosiers faced No. 9 Michigan. The Hoosiers were defeated 4-0 by the Wolverines.
Against South Florida, freshman Heather Suca helped the Hoosiers as she had one hit and one RBI. Another freshman, Lisa Mattke also had one hit with one RBI and one stolen base. Pitching for the Hoosiers was Sophomore Alison Cooke. Cooke pitched seven innings allowing only five hits and one earned run as she struck out three.
Statistics are unavailable at this time for the 4:00 p.m. game vs. Michigan. The host school, South Florida, was unable to send statistics due to computer failure. The stats for that game will be updated on Monday, Feb. 28.
Indiana will travel to Tucson, Arizona to compete in the Arizona Tournament
Friday, March 3 through Sunday, March 5 at Hillenbrand Stadium. The Hoosiers
will play Tulsa and Oregon State on Friday, St. Peters and Northwestern
State on Saturday, and will conclude the tournament with Arizona on Sunday.
