The Indiana softball team captured its first win of the season against Alabama and dropped games to North Carolina and Southern Mississippi on the last day of the Bama Bash held Sunday at Bowers Park in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
The Hoosiers (1-4) started the day with an 8-0 loss to Southern Mississippi (12-3). Freshman catcher Brooke Monroe, who made the All-Tournament team, was the only player to reach base against the Southern Mississippi pitcher Courtney Blades (10-1).
IU then captured its first win of the season by winning 2-0 over Alabama (7-7). The Hoosiers scored both runs in the top of the fifth as senior Khara Good tripled to score senior Jaime Thedford, then Good scored on a pass ball to grab the 2-0 advantage.
The Hoosiers dropped the third game of the day 9-0 to North Carolina (5-8). IU managed just two hits in the contest, while the Tar Heels took advantage of five Hoosier errors.
