Softball Announces Alumni Day Set for March 26

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana softball team has announced that Saturday, March 26, will be Alumni Day at the IU Softball Field. All IU softball alumni are encouraged to attend the game at 1:00 p.m. ET against Minnesota. Prior to the game, the 1986 Indiana softball team will be recognized for the 25th anniversary of their appearance in the Women's College World Series.
Snacks and drinks will be provided at the game and then a dinner with the team will follow in the Henke Hall of Champions, which is located in the North End Zone of Memorial Stadium.
The dinner cost $23 per person and reservations can be made by calling assistant coach Amanda Rivera at 812-855-9738 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Reservations must be made by March 12.
The 1986 team went 45-18 on the year and 15-9 in the Big Ten to claim a share of the conference title. After defeating Central Michigan in two games at the regional tournament, the Hoosiers advanced to Omaha, Neb., for the World Series. There they defeated Louisiana Tech in the first game, 1-0 and then lost to Texas A&M to fall into the consolation bracket. After staying alive with a 2-0 win over Long Beach State, the Cal State Fullerton Titans ousted the Hoosiers and would go on win the national title that year.
