March 3, 2000 HOOSIERS LOST TWO GAMES IN HILLENBRAND INVITATIONAL
TUCSON, Ariz. - The Hoosiers fell to Tulsa 1-0 Friday morning during their first game in the Hillenbrand Softball Invitational. Both teams were held scoreless during the first seven innings, and went into extra innings to decide the winner. Tulsa scored one run in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead. The Hoosiers tried to come back in the bottom of the inning with two runners on base, but came up short to end the game. Senior Teresa Martinez was on the mound for the Hoosiers and now 0-3 on the season.
In their second game, Indiana lost to No. 10 Oregon State 1-0. The Beavers managed to score a run in the 6th inning to capture the win. Pitching for the Hoosiers was sophomore Alison Cooke who is now 1-3 on is the season.
As a team, we had a solid defensive effort in both games, said head coach Diane Stephenson. We just couldnt score when we had the opporunity.
The Hoosiers will be back in action tomorrow morning, Saturday,
March, as they continue play in the Hillenbrand Softball Invitational
in Tucson, Arizona. Indiana will play St. Peters at 10:00 a.m.
(EST) and Northwestern State at 4:00 p.m. (EST).
