Indiana struggled in Clearwater, Fla., last weekend and will look to a little home cooking this weekend at the IU Classic to get back on track. After a year off, the IU Classic is back on the schedule with Southern Illinois Edwardsville and Central Michigan making their way to Bloomington. The games get underway at 10:00 a.m. Saturday with SIUE and Indiana squaring off.

In Clearwater, sophomore Samantha Berenter continued her outstanding start to the 2010 season, hitting .500 (6-for-12) with a home run, double and five RBI. Freshman Amanda Wagner hit a pair of solo home runs and scored a team-high four runs in the five games while senior Jennifer Glueckert and freshman Breanna Saucedo both had seven hits on the weekend.

Sophomore Samantha Berenter has been hitting from any spot in the order this season. She has 17 at-bats in the No. 7 spot in the order and is hitting .353 with five doubles, five RBI and seven runs scored. In the No. 8 spot, she is hitting .429 in 14 at-bats with two doubles and three RBI. Recently she was moved up in the order and responded well, going 3-for-5 in cleanup spot with a home run and three RBI.

    ...OR DOES IT?
In contrast to Berenter's hitting prowess throughout the lineup, there are a couple other examples that show certain players are comfortable in a familiar spot in the order. The first example is junior Cassie Gogreve in the No. 5 spot in the order. She is hitting .333 with two home runs and nine RBI in 48 at-bats in the fifth spot and is 1-for-12 in at-bats outside that spot. Kelsey Stander has become accustomed to the No. 9 spot, hitting .308 and scoring six runs out of the spot while hitting just .167 in the No. 2 spot in the order.

The Indiana University Department of Athletics announced earlier this winter that over 30 games on the IU softball schedule will be broadcast on, and all games from here on out will be carried on the website. All of the broadcasts will be free of charge through Stretch Internet, and available by going to the softball schedule page on Dave Leno will have the call for all the broadcasts, with Nathan Wiechers providing color commentary.

Indiana head coach Michelle Gardner is in her second season with the Hoosiers, and her eighth season as a collegiate head coach after spending six years at Nevada. Her career record is 203-230. She has a pair of NCAA Regional appearances to her credit with the Wolfpack.

Central Michigan head coach Margo Junker is her 31st season with the Chippewas and has an overall record of 987-587-5

SIU Edwardsville head coach Sandy Montgomery is in her 22nd season with the Cougars and has an overall record of 786-358-2.
