    SWEET 16
With the Hoosiers 6-3 win over Wright State on Sunday in the Hoosier Classic, Indiana continued its climb towards new heights. With the win...

    • Indiana improved to 16-12 on the season to mark the first time that the team has been four games over .500 since March 23, 2007.

    • The 16 wins is the most in a single season under head coach Michelle Gardner

    • It is the most in a single season since 2008 (16-35 overall)

    • Indiana is now riding a four-game winning streak, the longest since they won nine consecutive games from March 10-17, 2007.

    HOOSIER CLASSIC IS A CLASSIC
Indiana posted a perfect 4-0 record over the weekend at the Hoosier Classic behind stellar pitching from Morgan Melloh and timely hitting. It is the first time since 2004 that Indiana has gone undefeated at the Hoosier Classic.

Melloh went 4-0 in the circle and had a 0.56 ERA in 25 innings pitched (allowed two earned runs). She also struckout 36 batters and had three games of 10 or more strikeouts to give her 65 in her career.

Ashley Warrum was the top hitter for the Hoosiers, going 5-for-11 (.455) at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI.

    MELLOH MOVES UP THE LISTS
With her 36 strikeouts on the weekend, she now has 1,340 in her career to own sole possession of 15th place on the NCAA career strikeout list. She began the season just outside the top 25 and has steadily made her way towards the top.

Her season total of 202 strikeouts is the eighth-best in Indiana single-season history. She needs just six more to pass Mariangee Bogado for seventh and 17 more to move into sixth place, passing Megan Roark's 219 in 2005.

    WARRUM WOWS 'EM
Freshman Ashley Warrum has come out of no where to lead Indiana in hitting this season with a .360 average. She had just four at-bats through the first 13 games but was inserted into the lineup on Feb. 26 against Cal State Fullerton and the rest - as they say - is history. She had two hits that game and scored two runs and later that day had three hits against Loyola Marymount. That was all part of a five-game hit streak 9-for-19 at the plate.

Since then she has continued to hit the ball consistently and has seven multi-hit games to her credit and enters Tuesday's game against Butler on a three-game hit streak.

Warrum attended Indiana as a freshman but was not a member of the softball team. She was a member of the Pendleton Heights High School softball team, one of the strongest in the state. After attending a couple of IU Softball games as a fan, she got the urge to get back into softball and joined the Hoosiers in the Fall.
