IU Softball Spends Time At Girls, Inc.
March 22, 2012
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Four members of the Indiana University softball team - Cassie Gogreve, Shelby Gogreve, Samantha Berenter and Lindsay Callanan - spent some time with local girls at Girls, Inc., of Monroe County. They talked about a typical day of an athlete as well as showing them some different drills.
Speaking to a group of approximately 25 girls, the players talked to them about what goes into each day as a student-athlete. They discussed what academic requirements they have and then what they have to do while the season is going on.
Then the group broke out into stations, with the players showing the girls some different drills that they do in practice along with some other fun activities. One station ran the bases, another station played "pepper" and another station caught fly balls in the outfield.
