    HOOSIERS HOST BALL STATE

    Game Data
    Indiana will host a double-header against the Ball State Cardinals on Saturday, March 25, at 2:00 p.m. at the IU Softball Complex.

    Ball State
    The Cardinals are under the direction of head coach Terri Laux. Last season, Ball State was 22-38 overall and 8-18 in Mid-American Conference (MAC). Currently, the Cardinals are 8-12 after sweeping Butler in a double-header on Wednesday, March 22. After a 2-1 Cardinals' win in the first game, junior pitcher Samantha Bushy threw the first no-hitter of her career to lead BSU to a 4-0 shutout in the second game.

    The Series
    The Hoosiers lead the series 30-19 against the Cardinals. In their last meeting, Ball State defeated Indiana 3-2 on April 13, 1999.

    Weekly Update
    On Tuesday, March 21, the Hoosiers split a double-header with Butler losing 2-1 and then defeating the Bulldogs 10-2 in the second game.

    Batters Box
    Freshman Lauren Hendrix went 4-for-4 with three RBIs in game two of the double-header with Butler on Tuesday. That's a career high in hits and RBIs for the rookie shortstop.

    On a Roll
    Freshman Heather Suca is currently on a four game hitting streak. Suca began the streak on March 18 versus Loyola-Chicago in Evansville, Indiana. She had one hit against both Loyola and Kentucky over the weekend. On Tuesday, March 21, Suca had two hits in game one followed by one hit and one RBI in game two of the double-header with Butler.

    Junior Melissa Narewski is currently on a three game hitting streak. Narewski had one hit against Evansville on March 17 to begin the streak. Against Butler, she connected for two hits in game one and one hit with one RBI in game two.

    Senior Sheri Savko has also put together a streak of three games with a hit. Savko had one hit versus Kentucky, game one against Butler and game two against Butler.

    Suca, Narewski, and Savko will look to continue their success at the plate on Saturday against the Cardinals.

    State Showdown
    Indiana is currently 2-1 versus Indiana schools. The Hoosiers defeated Evansville 6-3 on Friday, March 17 at Evansville, Indiana. On Tuesday, March 21, Indiana split a double-header with Butler losing 2-1 and then rallying to defeat the Bulldogs 10-2 in the second game.

    The Coaches
    Diane Stephenson begins her 13th season as head coach for the Hoosiers. She has produced winning records in seven of her 12 seasons. Stephenson has accumulated a 365-319-3 (.534) career record, including a 150-149 (.502) record in Big Ten play. Her team made the NCAA Mideast Regional in 1994 and finished with a record of 49-16.

    Assisting Stephenson will be Donna Bonebrake, now in her 5th season, and newcomer Jen McIntyre. McIntyre comes to Indiana from Penn State where she played third base for the Nittany Lions.

    Trish Boyd: went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs vs. Auburn.

    Monique Bullock: scored one run and had one hit vs. St. Peter's College...scored once and stole two bases against Auburn.

    Kristen Capista: had one RBI vs. St. Peter's College.

    Jessica Carriger: hit her first career homerun vs. Georgia Tech.

    Alison Cooke: defeated Butler in game two with four strikeouts...picked up the win over Evansville with four strikeout and only one earned run...shut-out Miami-Ohio with five strikeouts in the 2-0 win...struck out four batters vs. No. 2 Arizona...had two strikeouts and allowed five hits with no earned runs vs. No. 10 Oregon State...picked up the win against Kent State allowing only three hits in five innings.

    Stormy Hanson: scored two runs and had two RBIs in game two vs. Butler...scored two runs and had two doubles vs. Georgia Tech...went 2-for-3 vs. Akron...had one hit and scored one run vs. No. 2 Arizona.

    Lauren Hendrix: had a career high four hits and three RBIs vs. in game two vs. Butler...went 2-for-3 with one RBI vs. Loyola...scored two runs vs. Akron...scored two runs vs. St. Peter's College...went 2-3 against No. 10 Oregon State...scored one run against South Florida...doubled and scored one run against Kent State...doubled and scored one run against Kent State.

    Teresa Martinez: earned the win over Georgia Tech...picked the win vs. Troy State with three strikeouts...doubled, had two hits, and two RBI vs. Northwestern State...pitched eight innings with four strikeouts allowing only one earned run...had one hit and one RBI against Auburn.

    Lisa Mattke: had one RBI vs. Butler...went 2-for-3 with a double vs. in game two vs. Troy State...went 3-for-4 with one RBI vs. Troy State...scored two runs, had one RBI, and one stolen base vs. St. Peter's College....one hit, one RBI, and one stolen base versus South Florida.

    Staci Meek: stole two bases vs. Butler...stole two bases and had two RBIs vs. Evansville...stole two bases vs. St. Peter's College....scored one run against South Florida...scored one run and had a stolen base versus Kent State.

    Brooke Monroe: scored two runs and had one RBI vs. Butler...tripled vs. Kentucky...went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scored two runs vs. Troy State...tripled with two RBIs vs. Miami-Ohio...doubled, had two hits, and a career -high five RBI vs. St. Peter's College...had two hits vs. Tulsa...went 3-3 against Kent State with a three-run homerun in the bottom of the seventh to win the game 6-5.

    Melissa Narewski: went 2-for-3 in game one vs. Butler...went 2-for-2 with one RBI vs. Akron...went 3-3 with a double, one run, and one RBI against Auburn.

    Sheri Savko: hit her first homerun of the season vs. Butler... went 1-for1 with an RBI and a double vs. Georgia Tech...went 3-for-4 with one RBI and two stolen bases vs. Troy State...went 3-for-3 vs. Creighton...doubled with one RBI vs. No. 2 Arizona...one run, one hit, and one stolen base vs. St. Peter's College....one stolen base against Michigan...scored one run, doubled, and stole one base against Kent State...doubled, scored once, and stole a base versus Auburn.

    Jenny Smith: went 1-for-1 went a double vs. Miami-Ohio...pitched a shutout against St. Peter's College allowing only two hits.

    Heather Suca: doubled scoring one run with one RBI in game two vs. Butler...went 2-for 3 in game one vs. Butler...went 1-for-2 scoring one run with one stolen base vs. Loyola...went 1-for2 and scored one run vs. Evansville...scored one run on one hit vs. St. Peter's College.
