Hoosiers Set To Host Indiana State on Thursday

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana Hoosiers (3-22, 0-2 Big Ten) will play host to the Indiana State Sycamores (8-12, 2-4 MVC) on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the IU Softball Field. The Hoosiers are coming off a 6-1 loss to No. 14 Louisville on Tuesday while Indiana State lost three games to Missouri State last weekend.

    Indiana claimed a 4-1 victory in last year's meeting to increase their winning streak to five games in the series and nine of the last 11. In those five wins, Indiana has outscored ISU by a 29-8 margin. The overall series sits at 51-17 in favor of the Hoosiers.

    The Sycamores are led by Katie Armour and her .422 batting average to go along with 17 RBI. Meredith Simpson (.391) and Shonda Garringer (.328) are the other top offensive threats with 17 RBI and 26 combined runs scored. Darcy Wood is 5-7 in the circle for the Sycamores and has a 3.13 ERA in 16 appearances and 78.1 innings. Four other players have also seen time in the circle for Indiana State and have a combined 3-5 record. ISU has a record of 4-3 on the road and had won four straight prior to the 0-3 weekend against Missouri State.

    Junior outfielder Jennifer Glueckert is tied for the Big Ten lead in triples after hitting her third of the season on Tuesday at No. 14 Louisville. Her other two triples came on Feb. 22 at the Seminole Classic hosted by Florida State, when she collected two triples against East Carolina. Thanks to those triples

    The Hoosiers are in the middle seven games in 13 days and will play host to the Wisconsin Badgers at 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. They will then make the trek to the southern part of the state for a battle with the Evansville Aces on Tuesday, March 31.
