Bloomington, Indiana -- The Indiana Softball team dropped a pair of games on the last day of the IU Softball Tournament at the IU Softball Field Sunday.
The Hoosiers (11-17) lost their first game of the day 9-1 to Illinois State (13-12). The Redbirds scored two in the first and then five in the second to take a 7-1 lead. Krista O'Hanian capped the second with a grand slam shot to left field. The Hoosiers run came in the top of the second as junior Staci Meek singled in junior Monica Zahasky.
IU's second game was 3-0 loss to in-state rival Ball State (7-16). The Cardinals scored one run in the fifth and two in the sixth. IU senior Jaime Thedford singled in the fourth for the team's only hit of the game.
IU hosts a doubleheader with Miami (OH) Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Hoosiers then start Big Ten play with a weekend series against Northwestern at the IU Softball Field. The Hoosiers and Wildcats play a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday. Action begins at 1 p.m. on both days.
