    WOLVERINES TAKE SERIES FROM INDIANA

Bloomington, Ind.--The Michigan Wolverine's softball team lived up to its #2 ranking this weekend taking all three games from the Hoosiers. Indiana falls again today 7-0. As a result, Michigan moves up to 24-3 overall and 3-0 in the Big Ten, while Indiana drops to 6-16-1 overall and 0-3 in Big Ten play.

Pitching was the key for Michigan as the Hoosiers only got two hits off undefeated Sara Griffin. Griffin (13-0) not only gave up two hits and no runs, but she struck out 10 batters.

Michigan jumped out quickly scoring runs in the first and second inning. They kept charging producing five more runs in the sixth and seventh.

The lone hits for the Hoosiers came from senior Trina Valencia and Jaime Thedford. Both hit 1-2 on the day.

Sophomore pitcher Teresa Martinez threw the full seven innings striking out two and walking no one.

Coach Diane Stephenson said, "We weren't as mentally sharp this game. I think this team can make some noise in the Big Ten if we play with yesterday's effort. We need to work on being consistent and bringing effort to every game."

Indiana will travel to Ohio State on Wed., April 1 and remain on the road over the weekend to play Northwestern.
