Indiana Travels to Ohio State, Northwestern

WHAT'S COMING: Indiana will be back in Big Ten action with a double header tomorrow against Ohio State starting at 1 p.m. The Hoosiers will voyage to Northwestern to play a double header on Sat., April 4 and a single game on Sun., April 5. Both games will begin at 1 p.m.

ABOUT INDIANA: Indiana stands at 6-16-1. The Hoosiers were swept by No. 2 Michigan this past weekend. Senior Monica Armendarez leads the way with a .357 batting average, three home runs, and 13 RBI. Head coach Diane Stephenson enters her 11th season at the helm of the Hoosiers. She has recorded a career record of 334-248-3. Julie Moss is in her fourth year as an assistant coach, and Donna Bonebrake is starting her third year.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: Entering the double header tomorrow, Ohio State stands at 11-11-0 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes took one of three games from No. 20-ranked Minnesota to open Big Ten play. Katie Wessendorf holds a .438 bating average, and Kristi Martin (3-2) leads the team with a 2.51 ERA. For the Wildcats, they hold onto an overall record of 18-9-0 and a Big Ten record of 2-1-0. Northwestern grabbed two out of three games versus Purdue last weekend. Sophomore pitcher Jaclyn DeBoard hangs onto a 0.95 ERA and won the Pitcher of the Week Award for her performance against Purdue.

ARMED ARMENDAREZ: Monica Armendarez has picked up right where she left off last season. Look for record to fall this season for the co-captain. Last weekend with her 51st double, she became the career record holder in doubles beating Michelle Venturella's mark of 50. Currently, she stands at a tie with Venturella's career home run record of 28. The career runs record is also in danger of breaking as she reached third place with a total of 122 runs.

TRY TO CATCH HER: Junior Khara Good is perfect... in stolen bases this season stealing 8-8. The 5-0 junior is Indiana's fastest athlete and has just taken over seventh place on Indiana's all-time base stealers list capturing 40 bases. Good is on-track to best her mark of 16 bases she stole last season.

THRIFTY THEDFORD: In the open weekend of the Big Ten season, Junior Jaime Thedford has been heard. Against Michigan, the first baseman had three hits in eight tries giving her a Big Ten average of .375. Of those hits, one was her first career home run.

NEXT UP: Following the games this week, the Hoosiers will head home for a double header against Michigan State on Wed., April 8 at 1 p.m. They take to the road again for a double header with Wisconsin on Sat., April 11 and a single game on Sun., April 12. Both games start at 1 p.m.
