Indiana continues Big Ten play this weekend, playing its first true road game in nearly three weeks when it travels to No. 3 Michigan for a two game set. The Hoosiers recently completed a eight-game homestand with a 7-1 mark following a split against Minnesota to open conference action.

Michigan, ranked third coming into the weekend, will be the seventh team ranked 14th or higher that IU has played this season.

    • The 19-13 start to the year is the best record through 32 games to start a season since a 21-11 mark in 1997
    • The last time IU won a Big Ten road opener was April 8, 2005 at Illinois
    • Indiana has lost 34 straight contests against the Wolverines
    • The Hoosiers are ranked 45th in the most recent NCAA RPI released this week
    • The last Indiana win at Michigan was on April 16, 1993
Morgan Melloh leads all NCAA Division I pitchers with 257 strikeouts this season
    • She needs 4 strikeouts to move into 10th on the NCAA Career Strikeout List
    • The 17 strikeouts vs. Butler on March 22 are the 2nd most in a game in Melloh's career
    • The 6-0 start at home this year was the best start at home since a 13-0 start in 1990
    • Opponents are hitting just .186 with runners in scoring position this year
    • The last time Indiana was six games over .500 was in 2006 (17-11-1)
Breanna Saucedo has 28 career multi-hit games
    • Freshman Meaghan Murphy has five games with 2 or more RBI this season
Cassie Gogreve has thrown out 10-of-30 attempted base stealers this season (23 last year to lead BCS catchers)
Ashley Warrum is hitting .351 since being inserted into the everyday lineup on Feb. 26 vs. Cal State Fullerton

Senior pitcher Morgan Melloh has started her Indiana career just as she did her Fresno State career - by being a workhorse in the circle and registering strikeout after strikeout. She has 18 complete games to her credit and 167.2 innings pitched to go with a Big Ten-best 257 strikeouts. Assuming she keeps up at this strikeout-per-game pace, she will have a chance to be the single-season leader in strikeouts at Indiana (370 by Amy Unterbrink in 1986).

She has 14 games with 10+ strikeouts, led by a 14-strikeout effort against No. 4 Florida in Palm Springs earlier this year and most recently a 17-strikeout performance against Butler that is the most among any Big Ten pitcher this season. She followed that up with 14 strikeouts in the second game of the doubleheader against Butler.

Melloh's career total of 1395 strikeouts puts her in 11th place on the NCAA career strikeout list. See page 4 of these game notes for a more in-depth look at Melloh's career by the numbers and where she could end up by the end of this season.

Senior Sara Olson has a 3-0 record in the circle this year and is second on the team with a .337 batting average and leads the team with five home runs, seven doubles and 21 RBI. Her 10 multi-hit games are second on the team and she is hitting .393 with runners in scoring position. She has 22 career home runs to put her in eighth place on the Indiana career home runs list and her 81 career RBI are tied for 11th-most in IU history.

After reeling off four wins in four games at the Hoosier Classic, Indiana continued its wining ways with a doubleheader sweep of Butler two days later to run its winning streak to six games - the longest since a nine-game win streak in 2007.
