CHICAGO - A pair of Indiana seniors grabbed weekly accolades from the Big Ten Conference on Monday, as Sara Olson was named Player of the Week and Morgan Melloh was named Co-Pitcher of the Week for their efforts in a weekend split at No. 3 Michigan. It is the first weekly award for both players and the first for IU in five years.

It marks the first time since April 24, 2006 (Rachel Terry), that Indiana received the player of the week accolade and the first time since April 3, 2006 (Mariangee Bogado), that an Indiana pitcher garnered the weekly award.

"We could not be any happier for not only Sara and Morgan but for our entire team," Indiana head coach Michelle Gardner said. "Those two had a great weekend against Michigan and its great for them to be rewarded for it and for our team to get the recognition for all the hard work they have continued to put in."

Olson was 1-for-3 at the plate in a game one loss to the Wolverines but broke through in game two. She was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two home runs and drove in all five RBI in the Hoosiers 5-4 win in eight innings over No. 3 Michigan. It was the first win for the Hoosiers against UM since 1996 and the first win in Ann Arbor since 1993. Olson is now tied for sixth on the Indiana career home run list (24) and is 11th on the career RBI list (86).

Melloh pitched every inning of the doubleheader and came away with a 1-1 record. She allowed two runs on just five hits and seven strikeouts in the game one loss. But she came back to fan 14 and surrender just one earned run on nine hits in the game two 5-4 win in eight innings. She now has 278 strikeouts this season, the fourth-most in IU history and sits in 10th place on the NCAA career strikeout list with 1,416.

Indiana will travel to Louisville on Wednesday for a non-conference tussle with the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. ET. Then they return to conference action this weekend with two games at Penn State. Fans can access live audio of all Indiana softball games by going to
