    GAME INFORMATION: The Hoosiers (13-20, 0-3 Big Ten) host the Ohio State Buckeyes (10-16, 0-3 Big Ten) on Women's Affairs Day at the IU Softball Field. The doubleheader begins at 2 p.m.

    THE SERIES: Indiana leads the all-time series 47-14-1. The teams split the 1998 twinbill, with IU winning the first game 8-2, and the Buckeyes taking the second game 4-2.

    HEAD COACH DIANE STEPHENSON... is in her 12th season as the Indiana head coach. She has had winning records in seven of her 11 seasons. Stephenson has accumulated a 354-283-3 (.553) career record, including a 147-131 (.529) record in Big Ten play. Her team made the NCAA Mideast Regional in 1994 and finished with a record of 49-16.

    OVER THE WEEKEND: Indiana's softball team dropped three-straight games to Northwestern in it's Big Ten season opener Sunday afternoon at the IU Softball Field. The Hoosiers, having to play all three games in the series on Sunday due to Saturday's rainout, lost to the Wildcats 4-1 in game one, 6-4 in game two and 5-2 in game three. With the sweep, the Hoosiers dropped to 13-20 overall, 0-3 in the Big Ten while Northwestern improved to 21-15 overall, 3-0 in league play.

    INSTANT IMPACT: Freshman Brooke Monroe and junior college transfer Sheri Savko are putting up impressive numbers. Monroe leads the team in doubles (7) and home runs (4), and is second on the team in hits (30), total bases (51), and slugging percentage (.481). Savko is second on the team in RBI (18) and tied for second in home runs (3). Savko is also perfect in six stolen base attempts. Freshman pitcher Alison Cooke is also making a sound debut. Cooke is 6-6 in 12 starts with 10 complete games.

    HITTING FAR, FAR AWAY: The Hoosiers have already matched their home run total of 16 from last year (All-American Monica Armendarez had 13). The power is distributed throughout the lineup as seven Hoosiers have at least one round tripper. Freshman Brooke Monroe leads with four; senior Khara Good and junior Sheri Savko have three each; sophomore Melissa Narewski has two; and senior Jaime Thedford, junior Staci Meek, and sophomore Erica Del Toro have cleared the wall once each.

    LOOKING FOR EXTRAS: 58 of the Hoosiers 201 hits have been for extra bases (.289): 33 doubles, 10 triples, and 15 home runs.

    CAN'T STOP THIEF: The Hoosiers are 42-of-54 (.778) in stolen base attempts this year. Senior Khara Good and junior Sheri Savko are both perfect in 8 and 6 attempts, respectively. Junior Staci Meek leads the team in robberies, with 12 stolen bases in 16 tries. Good has also been successful on 21 consecutive attempts dating back to April 10, 1998 at Wisconsin. Good was last caught April 8, 1998 at Michigan State.

    HITS ARE KEY: The Hoosiers are 8-3 when getting more hits than their opponent.

    ON THE UPSWING: The Hoosiers have already matched last season's win total. IU was 13-31-1 in 1998 and already have 13 wins (13-20) in the 1999 campaign.

    HOOSIERS IN THE BIG TEN: (All games as of April 6) Brooke Monroe is tied for fourth in home runs (4) and ninth in RBI with 20. Sheri Savko is tied for fourth with two triples and is tied for sixth in home runs with three. Khara Good leads the league with four triples and is tied for sixth in home runs (3). Teresa Martinez is 10th in innings pitched (93.1) and tied for sixth with three shutouts.

    WALK OF LIFE: IU is using a good eye at the plate to get base-runners. The Hoosiers have already taken 76 free passes, including 67 walks and nine batters hit-by-pitch.

    TRISH BOYD: singled and scored in game two at Butler...scored as a pinch-runner against Indiana State and Northern Iowa.

    MONIQUE BULLOCK: scored twice in the second game vs. Miami (OH)...singled and stole second in game one against Indiana State...1-for-2, one run, and a sacrifice vs. Tulsa...scored in the Alabama contest.

    ALISON COOKE: spread six hits in a complete game, 3-2 win over Miami (OH) in the first game of the twinbill...complete game three-hitter vs. Butler (game two)...complete game two-hit shutout in game two of the Indiana State doubleheader...allowed five hits and one earned run in 4.2 innings for the Win vs. Iowa State...complete game 2-1 win in game one at Chattanooga.

    ERICA DEL TORO: hit 2-for-3 and scored twice in the second game against Miami (OH)...went 2-for-3 with two RBI the first game against Butler...3-for-3 in the doubleheader vs. Indiana State, including a double and a triple and two RBI in game for two with a walk in the Pittsburgh game...two-run homer and six assists vs. Drake.

    KHARA GOOD: 2-for-3, including her eighth triple of the season and an RBI single in the second game against Northwestern...3-for-3 with four RBI, including a triple and a three-run homer in game two vs. Miami (OH)...doubled, scored twice, and had one stolen base in game two at Butler...3-for-5 with a double, 2 RBI, a sacrifice, and a run scored in the Indiana State doubleheader...hit a solo homer and scored another run vs. Northern Iowa...went 2-for-4 and scored vs. Western Michigan...walked twice, doubled and scored against Iowa State...2-for-3 and a run scored in the first game at Chattanooga...singled, triple, scored, and had one RBI vs. Alabama...tripled and scored against Pittsburgh...walked and a stole second vs. Drake.

    JAIME THEDFORD: singled, doubled, and scored twice in the second game at Butler...doubled and scored in both games of the Indiana State doubleheader...went 2-for-4, drove in a run, and recorded nine putouts against Drake...singled and scored vs. Northern Iowa...2-for-3, with a triple and and RBI vs. Western Michigan...pinch-hit single against Tulsa...hit a solo homer as the Hoosiers captured a 2-1 win to sweep Chattanooga.

    MONICA ZAHASKY: singled and scored in the second game vs. Illinois State...1-for-2 vs. Northern Iowa...1-for-2 and walked against Western Michigan...2-for-3 vs. Tulsa...singled against Iowa State...singled vs. for two with a walk, 15 put outs and one assist vs. Drake.
