Indiana will travel to Muncie, Indiana for a double-header with Ball State on Tuesday, April 11. Game one will begin at 3:00 p.m. at BSU Softball Complex.
The Cardinals are currently 10-17 overall and 0-3 in the conference. Katie Shea leads all hitters with a .344 batting average for Ball State while Marcy Mobley leads all pitchers with a 1.82 ERA.
Indiana leads the series 31-20 over the Cardinals after splitting a double-header earlier this season. In the matchup in Bloomington, Indiana, IU won game one 3-2 and then dropped the second game 1-0.
The Hoosiers went 1-3 on the weekend. On Friday, Indiana dropped two games to Penn State on the road 8-1 and 16-0. Indiana then traveled to Ohio State where they split a double-header on Sunday afternoon losing 6-3 in game one and then rallying to defeat the Buckeyes 5-1 in game two. Senior Sheri Savko hit her 4th homerun of the season against the Buckeyes, which is a career season high for the senior.
Pulling Her Weight at the Plate
Senior Sheri Savko has been powerful at the plate. Overall, Savko has an average of .295 and has hit a team high four homeruns this season. Savko also leads the team in multiple hit games (5), runs scored (14), doubles (6), total bases (46), hits (26), stolen bases (10), and slugging percentage (.523).
Carrying a Big Stick in the Big Ten
Senior Teresa Martinez is hitting .600 in the Big Ten so far. Martinez is 3-for-5 in Big Ten competition with one double and four total bases. Martinez is currently on a three game hitting streak and is also leading all pitchers with a 2.55 ERA in 22 innings in league games.
Freshman Stormy Hanson currently has a .300 batting average in Big Ten competition. Hanson has six hits, two doubles, two runs scored and three RBI in Big Ten games. The first baseman leads the team with a .392 on base percentage.

Diane Stephenson begins her 13th season as head coach for the Hoosiers. She has produced winning records in seven of her 12 seasons. Stephenson has accumulated a 368-327-3 (.531) career record, including a 152-155 (.498) record in Big Ten play. Her team made the NCAA Mideast Regional in 1994 and finished with a record of 49-16.
Assisting Stephenson will be Donna Bonebrake, now in her 5th season, and newcomer Jen McIntyre. McIntyre comes to Indiana from Penn State where she played third base for the Nittany Lions.
