BLOOMINGTON, Ind - Indiana will end its six-game road trip with a short bus ride to Terre Haute, Ind., on Wednesday, April 13, for a single-game affair. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. The contest was originally scheduled for March 22, but inclement weather forced the game to be postponed.

Indiana State (9-18) has lost two in a row and four of its last five games. The lone win in that stretch was a 1-0 victory at Drake on April 9 in a Missouri Valley Conference affair. Overall, the Sycamores are 4-9 in league play.

ISU is hitting just .207 as a team, led by junior first baseman Ashley Trover's .297 batting average. Sophomore Jessica McGivney is second on the team in hitting (.283) runs (10) and RBI (9). She also leads the squad with two home runs in a lineup that has produced just three long balls on the season. Freshman Alyssa Duncan leads the Sycamores with 12 RBI on the year, while sophomore Melissa Biniewicz tops the squad with 11 runs scored, 14 walks and three steals. Indiana State does not utilize the stolen base much, having only attempted seven steals on the season.

Freshman Darcy Wood (8-9, 2.01 ERA) is the ace of the ISU pitching staff. Wood has made 23 appearances with 18 starts totaling 135 2/3 innings giving up just 108 hits. She has also struck out 147 batters and walked 47. Sophomore Natalie Kopp (1-5, 7.00), McGivney (0-3, 4.28) and freshman Julie Damico (0-1, 21.00) round out the staff. The three hurlers have combined for 51 innings of work, 21 strikeouts and 27 walks.

Indiana leads the all-time series, which dates back to 10-4 and 11-8 victories in 1975, at 49-18. Last year, the Cream and Crimson took two out of three from the Sycamores, including a two-game sweep at home. IU is also 134-60-1 lifetime against present schools from the MVC, including a 1-1 mark this season.

Indiana returns to conference play with a two-game home series (April 15-16) against No. 18/18 Northwestern. Friday's contest gets underway at 3 p.m., while Saturday's game is set to start at noon. IU then welcomes No. 1/1 Michigan in a noon doubleheader on Sunday, April 17.

With 4-3 and 3-2 victories at Illinois on April 8-9, the Indiana earned its first Big Ten series sweep since 1999 and its first road conference sweep since 1998. In 1999, the Hoosiers downed Ohio State, 6-2 and 5-4, while in 1998, the Cream and Crimson swept the Nittany Lions, 5-0 and 4-3.

Sophomore Kim Richards hit her first collegiate game leadoff home run at Illinois on April 9, a 3-2 IU victory. The game leadoff home run was the first by a Hoosier since Valerie White accomplished the feat against Michigan on April 27, 2003.

Freshman Rachel Carlson made her first collegiate start at shortstop in both games of a doubleheader at Iowa on April 10. The Beecher, Ill., native played well despite never having played the position before. She had two putouts and four assists.
