BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana softball team dropped two games to Iowa on Friday afternoon. Iowa won game one 6-1 and game two 4-1. Indiana is now 12-27 overall and 2-8 in Big Ten play while Iowa improves to 30-7 overall and 6-0 in the Big Ten.
In game one, Sheri Savko scored the only run for the Hoosier when she hit a homerun in the bottom of the second inning. Savko broke her own career best mark with five homeruns on the season. Pitching for the Hoosiers was Alison Cooke. Cooke drops to 6-10 on the season. Staci Meek went 2-for-3 on the game.
In game two, Brooke Monroe hit her third homerun of the season. Monroe went 1-for-2 in the game scoring one run and having one RBI. Teresa Martinez is now 5-13 on the mound as she walked one and struck-out one on the afternoon.
"We've just got to come play our best," said head coach Diane Stephenson. "In order to win game in the Big Ten, you've got to play your best. We haven't done that. Hopefully, we come out tomorrow against Northwestern and play our best."
The Hoosiers will be back in action tomorrow, April 15, as they host the Northwestern Wildcats in a single game at 1:00 p.m. at the IU Softball Field.
