    HOOSIERS DROP TWO TO IRISH

    Bloomington, Ind.--The Indiana softball team dropped two games to Notre Dame today at the IU Softball Field, 2-0 and 9-3. As a result, Indiana falls to 9-24-1 overall and Notre Dame improves to 20-18.

    In the first game, Notre Dame's Jennifer Sharron pitched a complete game without walking anyone. She struck out six Hoosiers and gave up only three hits.

    Teresa Martinez went the full seven innings giving up eight hits and one earned run. She drops to 6-12 overall.

    For Notre Dame, it was a very even ball game with eight out of their nine batters each getting one hit. They hit eight total.

    Indiana could not get anything going cracking three hits and going no further than second base. Khara Good, Ashley Gayer, and Monica Zahasky each had one hit.

    In the second game, the Irish came out swinging. They scored five runs in two innings and had the ball game in their hands. In total, they smacked 15 hits, scored nine runs with one error.

    Indiana's offense came in the seventh inning from senior Monica Armendarez. With two Hoosiers on first and second, Armendarez stepped up and smashed her 10th home run of the season making the score 9-3.

    Good and Armendarez led the team going 2-3 and scoring one run. Armendarez also had three RBI.

    Freshman Jennifer Kniptash picked up her 12th loss of the season throwing four innings. She gave up 11 hits and six earned runs in the four inning she pitched.

    Indiana will be back to the Big Ten schedule tomorrow against Purdue in West Lafayette. The double header gets underway at 2 p.m.
